COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Effective Date:
Babel’s vision is to create a vibrant space where creativity flourishes, ideas come to life, and everyone can share their stories and feel like they belong. Our community is the cornerstone of this vision, fueling the stories and connections that define us. We deeply value each member of our community and are dedicated to fostering an environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered to share their thoughts, opinions, and ideas.
These guidelines are here to help uphold these principles, ensuring a welcoming and inspiring space for all.
Respect: Our Foundation
Imagine a garden, where each plant contributes to the beauty of the landscape. In our community, every story and voice matters, and respect is the soil in which we all grow. We ask you to approach each interaction with kindness and consideration. Just as a gardener tends to each plant with care, treat fellow members and their work similarly, avoiding personal attacks, harassment, or any form of hate speech.
Our community blooms through all the different works of art, creators, and audience members. We embrace and celebrate their unique nature and discourage any form of hate or discrimination, whether based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic. Think of our community as a mosaic, each piece different yet integral to the whole. Your words and actions should add to this environment.
Content Standards
Your contributions drive our creative community. We celebrate originality and creativity, and we ask that you share only content you’ve crafted yourself or have permission to use. Avoid plagiarism and respect the intellectual property rights of others.
Babel is a platform that welcomes diverse narratives, allowing you to explore themes of action, conflict, and complex emotions freely. While creators control their own ‘pens,’ Babel retains the right to decide which stories are featured. While we focus on quality and not substance, when curating submissions, there might be cases where the substance crosses the line. In those cases, we step in. You’re welcome to craft stories with intense scenes, profanity, explicit content, or conflicts. However, these should not promote self-harm, hate, or discrimination against any real individual or group based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other characteristic. Context Matters When Exploring Sensitive Topics. Handle mature themes thoughtfully and respectfully. For instance, stories touching on themes like hate or racism are acceptable, but they should be presented critically, not glorified. Always include content warnings for graphic violence, strong language, or potentially sensitive material to help our audience make informed choices about the content they engage with.
Use Reason: Ensure factual content in non-fiction is accurate and well-researched. Avoid spreading misinformation and include sources where possible.
Prohibited Content
Do not include content that incites hatred, violence, or discrimination against real individuals or groups. Do not include content that is abusive, threatening, or promotes self-harm or harm to others. Do not include content that promotes illegal activities or violates any applicable laws. Avoid posting spam, unsolicited promotions, or advertisements, do not send unsolicited messages or requests to other users and do not post content that contains viruses, malware, or any other harmful code.
User Interactions
Do not use the platform to attack, bully, intimidate or harass other users. Instead maintain a respectful tone in your stories and interactions.
Every interaction in our community should be like a dialogue between gardeners sharing tips and encouragement. Your feedback should be constructive, aimed at nurturing growth rather than tearing down. If you see a plant struggling, offer water, not criticism.
Pretending to be someone else disrupts the trust we cultivate here. Be yourself and engage honestly with others. Do not impersonate others or falsely represent yourself.
Reporting and Resolving
If you encounter content or behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it by contacting info@thebabelcompany.com or using our report form. Provide as much detail as possible to help us address the issue promptly. Your reports via our form will only be used to resolve violations and won’t be shared publicly.
Moderation: Tending the Garden
Moderating a community is like tending a garden, requiring careful pruning and nurturing. Babel reserves the right to moderate content and user interactions to ensure compliance with these guidelines. Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or even the removal of your account.
If you feel that a moderation decision is unfair, you are welcome to appeal. Reach out to us at info@thebabelcompany.com, and we will review your case with an open mind.
Your Role and Responsibility
Ensure that your activities on the website comply with these guidelines and all applicable laws. You retain ownership of any content you submit but grant Babel the right to use, modify, and distribute it as described in our Terms and Conditions. Maintain the security of your account by using a strong password and not sharing your login details with others.
Changes and Growth
Just as seasons change, so too may our guidelines evolve. We will keep you informed of significant updates, ensuring that our garden remains a welcoming and thriving place. Keep an eye on our updates and revisit these guidelines periodically to stay informed.
Thank you for contributing to a positive and welcoming community at Babel!
